Kids Tractor Upgrade - Mini Cub Cadet
After recently buying a new riding lawn mower and the battery on my kids Peg Perego John Deere Tractor I decided to give them an upgrade. Inspired by Dude Dad I converted it to be powered from my Dewalt flex volt batteries. Seriously more power than my kids could handle so I also made sure to install a power regulator. And equally important gave it a better paint job making it a mini Cub Cadet.
Im not sure who enjoys this most.. me, my wife or my kids. I recommend it to anyone.

Exactly what I want to do. Have a bunch of those Rubbermaid containers and wasn't sure if they would fit sideways in 24" spacing, but looks like they will. Not putting anything heavy. The usual totes Xmas stuff, blankets, clothes, board games, sleeping bags. No books or engine blocks.

The author does like to from scratch, ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxbnOKZBE4evMO5V2vroHeCjq6d_MV6wJO shaping and trimming wood from large blocks into fine finished products. As another reviewer mentioned, most projects require a lot of high-dollar equipment that most of us don’t have the room or budget for. But, knowing how to do these things, even if we won’t be able to practise the full stack project, is still great.

It’s actually a very well written and comprehensive book ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxhgbP-6hUnXu_QRaoHgLztgsI0YF3HqR0 . I wanted to pair this with an updated book on local codes to start planning a post-retirement dream shop. I think I have just about everything I need between the two. The extra plans available for purchase towards the end are priced almost as much as full home plans, not little sheds however.

I'd be careful how much weight you put up there as the celing joists are not designed to carry a lot of weight - if you put too much weight on them the joists will probably start to bow & you will find cracks appearing in your ceiling in the joins between the plasterboard

Pretty slick..I've made a ton of smaller planters with a very similar design. I find it a lot easier to assemble the panels first with a spot of glue on the edges, clamp them down then trim them to fit for the corners. No problem with expansion even here in South Carolina.. By the way, cypress is a great wood for planters as well. Cypress is pretty much bullet proof when it comes to both moisture and even contact with wet soil. The stuff takes forever and a day to even begin to rot..

I see you don't have the plans up yet - could you provide the details and count of the lumber used? From what I see, to my untrained eye, 2x4s and 1x6s are all you've used, correct? Brilliant design, btw. Of all the videos on youtube on planter boxes, I liked yours the best.

    • @smattt

1x4 for the trim as well. I did just see your comments with another gentleman from about a year ago. I went ahead and drew this up in SketchUp and have my cutlist all figured out. With lumber prices being what they are, I am considering making the bed shallower than your design to save some money. One question - did you use plastic or fabric liner at the base and sides of the bed? If so, did you end up drilling holes in the base fence boards to allow for water to flow through?

    • @Foleywoodworking
